The Eye Center at Southern College of Optometry (SCO) is committed to meeting the needs of patients beyond our clinical facility at 1225 Madison Avenue. Community Vision Health Services allows us to reach patients at their schools, workplace and community.
Our School Screening Program partners with the Shelby County public school system to provide vision screenings to more than 10,000 school children each year. An agreement between SCO and Head Start has enabled us to screen thousands of children at Head Start Programs across Shelby County, Tennessee.
Our Community Outreach Program takes our doctors, staff, and interns to local residents at community fairs, church health fairs, health programs and school career days. We also participate in Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinics for citizens throughout Tennessee.
Our Nursing Home/Assisted Living Program provides ongoing on-site examinations provided by our doctors and interns.
If you would like us to participate in your community event, need vision screening services, or would like on-site nursing home or assisted living visits, please contact:
